Bowling Daddy: Smart Bowling Enjoyed with Data
Bowling Daddy: Bowling Meets Data
‘Bowling Daddy’, currently under development by Dr. Oh Company, is a project aimed at innovating the bowling experience. It goes beyond simply rolling a ball, aiming for a system that allows users to scientifically analyze and improve their throws.
Core System Configuration
The system operates based on two cameras and a PC installed in the bowling alley.
- Cameras: Precisely capture the bowler’s form and the movement of the ball rolling down the lane.
- PC (Data Analysis Engine): Analyzes the captured video in real-time to extract various dynamic information such as ball speed, revolutions per minute (RPM), and trajectory.
- Replay: Provides a replay function allowing users to immediately review their throw footage along with the analyzed data for intuitive feedback.
Present and Future
Currently, based on this core system, we are capturing and recognizing the bowling alley’s scoreboard with a camera, and planning and developing various additional services based on this. For example, we are considering features like individual cumulative score management, throw data statistical analysis, and ranking comparisons with friends.
Ultimately, the goal is to launch a mobile app service linked to this data analysis system, creating an environment where users can check their bowling records and analysis data anytime, anywhere, communicate with other users, and enjoy bowling even more. We are striving to make bowling a smarter and more fun sport through Bowling Daddy.
